PJ provides support for crafting policies and associated services tailored to the CIF’s membership, aimed at enabling them to effectively tackle the crucial aspects of ESG and corporate sustainability obligations, whilst also refining their business strategies, plans, and actions. Collaborating closely with the CIF’s ESG Committee, PJ engages in various matters, including offering guidance on the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, Carbon Footprinting, and sponsoring the creation of the CIF Ireland Carbon Calculator. Practical challenges encompass ongoing issues such as the adoption of HVO as a diesel alternative and the widespread implementation of Electric Vehicles (EVs).
PJ has been immersed in sustainability roles since 2008, predominantly as a consulting engineer in the M&E sector. In this capacity, PJ has overseen teams responsible for sustainability modelling, ensuring compliance with building energy regulations, and navigating third-party rating schemes like LEED, BREEAM, and WELL. Prior to joining the CIF, PJ contributed to embedding mandatory sustainable requirements for Dublin Airport’s capital infrastructure projects while working with Bechtel and the daa.
As a Chartered Engineer with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CEng MCIBSE) and a Registered Consulting Engineer (RConsEI) with the Association of Consulting Engineers Ireland (ACEI), PJ is deeply committed to mitigating the dire consequences of the ongoing climate emergency and firmly believes in the importance of collective action.
